Gaelic Women Album

Ar Cànan 'S Ar Ceòl

...Mairi sings two songs 'Calum Sgaire' and one of her own compositions
'Is Gaidheal mi'...

June 1999, saw the release of the long awaiting Gaelic Womens Album, and Mairi who has been instrumental in the initiative and development of this project, sings two songs, 'Calum Sgaire' and one of her own compositions 'Is Gaidhael mi'.

(This Feeling Inside) which she co-wrote with her husband Steve Evans. Thanks are due to Norman MacLean for translating the song in to Gaelic.

This long awaited album has been over three years in the making. Mairi approached Ian Green of Greentrax Recordings regarding the possibility of producing an all Women's Gaelic album, something which hadn't been done before.

Malcolm Jones of Runrig is the joint producer with William Jackson, both play on the album.

The album features all the best female Gaelic singers, namely Mairi, Cathy Anne MacPhee, Anne Lorne Gillies, Karen Matheson, Ishbel MacAskill, Maggie MacInnes
(no relations!), Anne Murray, Flora Macneil, the MacKenzie sisters, the Glasgow Gaelic Choir etc.

There is real anticipation about this album.
